Lower Division Program
Grades K – 6
More than your typical private elementary school in Greensboro, N.C., Noble Academy’s Lower Division Program uses direct instruction and a multi-sensory approach to learning to meet the diverse needs of students from kindergarten through the sixth grade.
While all classes and grade levels are based on the N.C. Standard Course of Study, the teaching staff at Noble Academy recognizes the unique needs of their students and differentiates their method of instruction accordingly. Small class sizes make learning a customized, rewarding experience. Through these special accommodations and modifications, we ensure our Lower Division Program curriculum is accessible to all students.
By creating a safe, supportive environment, our teaching staff helps improve students’ self confidence, placing them in a better frame of mind to learn.
Each student at Noble Academy has an Academic Plan that is unique to his or her learning differences and challenges. Teachers at Noble Academy utilize this Academic Plan on a daily basis and regularly conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss and review student progress.
Technology is integrated into many aspects of the Lower Division Program curriculum through hands-on activities and applications. Each classroom is equipped with a Smart Board and each student has access to a Smart Table, providing many opportunities for students’ interaction with technology.
The Noble Academy Primary Program is divided into several integrated courses of study, including: Reading, English, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Specialists. Guidance and Advisor/Advisee Groups are also a pivotal part of academic life at Noble Academy.
Organization is a fundamental focus of the Primary Program curriculum. All elementary students are required to carry the “Perfect Notebook” to each of their classes. This strategy helps keep students with ADHD and other learning differences organized and on task.
Specialists classes follow a rotation schedule that includes physical education, art, drama, music, creative movement and/or healthy living.
The Noble Academy Intermediate Program is divided into several integrated courses of study, including: English, Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Specialists. Guidance is also an important part of student life at Noble Academy.
Developing students’ study skills is of vital importance in the Intermediate Program curriculum, preparing elementary school children for the increased expectations of independence in later grades.
Students are placed in the English, Reading and Language Arts class that best meets their instructional needs. Math is taught using hands-on activities whenever possible and a multi-sensory approach to instruction. Science and Social Studies are taught in alternating semesters until the sixth grade, when students have a full year of both courses of study.
Specialists classes follow a rotation schedule that includes physical education, drama, music, art and healthy living. Intermediate Program students are provided with the opportunity to participate in STOMP.
