It is my privilege to announce a Noble beginning to this school year! More than a year ago we started the process of freshening up our school’s image in Guilford County and the surrounding areas. Little did we know that we would end up with a new name. IT’S OFFICIAL! Guilford Day School is now NOBLE ACADEMY! We have launched our new website, and we are working on new print materials to represent our school. New athletic uniforms are underway, and you’ll be see new signage, window stickers and other branded items in the near future. I know it will be a challenge at first to get accustomed to saying “Noble Academy” rather than “Guilford Day,” but I’m sure that in a month or so we’ll all be on the same page. We’ve done our best to anticipate potential transition issues, but it may take a little while to work the kinks out. We are grateful for your support as we continue to work through the name change process together. For years we have been the best-kept secret in the local area for families whose children have learning differences. I encourage you to spread the word throughout the community about the exciting things happening here at Noble Academy. That’s the best way for our new name to really stick, and for families who need us to learn about our focused programming. EXPANSION PROJECTS As if the name change weren’t enough excitement, we are also moving forward with the capital campaign and facilities/programs expansion projects. The modular classrooms are perhaps the most visible signs of progress, a sure indicator that the behind-the-scenes fundraising efforts and planning are in full swing. We spent the majority of the summer cleaning, moving, remodeling, and adding space to prepare for one of the most exciting years in the school’s history. Almost all staff members have moved into a new classroom space, graciously enduring the temporary upheaval in anticipation of the new building. So, watch out Triad! Noble Academy is at least five steps closer to expanding our facilities and programming! Stay tuned for more info on these exciting initiatives. STAFF ADDITIONS I am very pleased to announce the addition of Ms. Danielle Fitzgerald, Ms. Shelley Causey, Mr. Paul Vernon, Mr. Jonathan Wallace, Ms. Aimee Picon, and Ms. Kimberley Burkhalter to Noble Academy’s teaching staff. As the school grows and evolves, I have been honored to hire highly-qualified, experienced, creative, and sincere staff members to become part of Noble Academy’s learning community. Along with the staff additions there are several Noble Academy staff members who have enthusiastically accepted the opportunity to “change up” their teaching schedules. Mr. Keel will be joining the Senior High Team as the history teacher, while Ms. Pellisero, who joined the junior high team last March, will be part of the Primary and Intermediate Teams. NEW TO NOBLE ACADEMY In the midst of all our summer excitement, we are pleased to welcome 30 new families to Noble Academy. We have seven new students in primary, 16 in intermediate, five in junior high, and two in senior high. Please make these new students and their families feel welcome and at home when you meet them! Thanks again for your support during these remarkable times at Noble Academy. I look forward to seeing you soon!
